Can having an STI affect my ability to conceive a baby?
If left untreated, STIs can have lasting effects on your health and fertility.
If you or your partner(s) have an STI, it’s important that you talk with your health care providers about treatment. If all partner(s) are not treated, there’s the risk of becoming infected again.
If STIs like gonorrhea and chlamydia are left untreated, they can damage the reproductive organs and can make it difficult for a pregnancy and a healthy birth to happen.
Talk with your health care provider about ways to decrease the risk of getting an STI.
