An occupational hazard is an on-the-job risk that could have a negative effect on your health. The risk could be to your physical or mental health. These could include injury, illness, disability (short-term or long-term) or death.

Occupational hazards may affect reproductive health. The more hazards you have in your workplace, the higher your risk may be.
Certain hazards can increase the risk of miscarriage, low birth weight or birth defects.
Chemicals or injury could affect ovulation. If you’re not releasing an egg, you can’t become pregnant.
Chemicals, heat or injury could affect sperm. This could include sperm’s shape, amount or ability to move.
Exposure to certain chemicals can change sperm or testosterone levels.
Exposure to heat in the workplace can change sperm.
If you’re concerned about a workplace hazard, talk with your employer or occupational health and safety personnel.
Talk with your health care provider if you’re exposed to a hazard in the workplace that might affect your reproductive health.
